The main reasons why you should not learn in schools

From what I know, there are reasons why students should not spare efforts to learn well in schools. I list the following viewpoints:

  1. You are part-time students; you do not have time to read books.
  2. You are advised by your teachers that you just carry out hypothesis-testing in your final year project and adapt ideas from 1 key refereed article. Do not try to use qualitative research methods as you will not be able to learn it as a part-time student. And then, the teacher will also not teach qualitative research methods nor research philosophies in Research Methods class.
  3. Students say that they are busy and they just want a pass. If the teachers are demanding, they are not good teachers and their teaching evaluation results will be poor.
  4. Students want to graduate within a brief period of time and they do not have time to study; they also have difficulties to read books (and academic journal articles) or write essays in English.
  5. When students say that they cannot understand what the teachers say, the teachers will tell them not to worry, but to focus on those main points in lecture notes as important for exam preparation.
  6. Whey students want to find some refereed articles to read, they discover that their University e-library does not have much e-resources to use in the first place...
  7. For those students who are more motivated to learn, their friends will tell them that few people do that in schools these days and that academic stuffs have low practical value; they should learn from work mainly..
  8. The education system is too bureaucratic, result-oriented, exam-oriented and commercialized, making students' learning experience not enjoyable nor inspiring..

There are also cases where students are so busy that they will not turn up in classes and that some teachers just read out lecture notes with poor spoken English... in short, the learning atmosphere does not exist..

Things may not be as bad as I have noted above but they did happen in our existing education system..
