IS oral presentation -overall assessment

The following are the overall evaluation comments on IS oral presentations on April 14-15:

  1. Quite a number of students have still got difficulties to formulate dissertation objectives, research questions.
  2. Quite a number of students are still not skillful in literature review
  3. Some students have difficulties to formulate research design, notably on primary data gathering strategies
  4. Students still need to justify their research design (in terms of validity, reliability and feasibility, and relevance) and dissertation objectives (in terms of practical value and academic value)
  5. Some students are still not able to express ideas clearly.
  6. Many students find it difficult and time-consuming to do e-library search.
  7. Some students still have difficulties to employ multiple-regression analysis (and with Excel)
  8. A few students have very weak knowledge on the subject of Research Methods fundamentally.
  9. Quite a number of students are weak in theory-driven analysis skill.
  10. Some IS assignment topics are not innovative and are too similar to other students' topics
  11. Some IS assignment topics are outdated and, some are too similar to IS assignment topics of previous intakes.
