Case Studies of Strategic Management Accounting
Refer to the set text book Management and Cost Accounting Bhimani, Horngren at al 5th Edition 2012.
Respond to the following short case studies:
Case 103 Electronic Boards. As the consultant recruited to advise on the development of a management accounting system prepare a set of briefing notes/slides which can be used as the blueprint requested. Be sure to deal with the technical, strategic and organisational aspects of the system and ensure your reasoning and brief discussion is clear in your notes/slides.
Case 201 Permaclean Products. Discuss the pricing problem facing Permaclean and develop your recommendations for dealing with the pricing problem. This should be supported by appropriate discussion of the issues involved; calculations and any assumptions you make should be clear.
In the context of the Case 201 and generally respond to the assertion: ‘I sell my product for what I can get, I use cost to determine whether I want to do business or not.’ Briefly comment on what you understand by this statement and what its implications are.
(The word limit for the coursework on this module is 2500 words, however in this assessment Case 103 requires notes/ slides and Case 201 requires some calculations. So a total word count below this level is anticipated.)
